Edward J. Lemons - MemberEmail: ejl@lge.net Mr. Lemons graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Iowa followed by graduation with distinction from the University of Iowa College of Law. Before entering private practice he was a law professor at Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand. During that time, he authored law review articles published in the law reviews of major universities addressing injuries compensation from a multinational perspective. He is a partner in Lemons, Grundy & Eisenberg, and limits his practice to matters related to health care in Nevada and Northern California. He has very substantial experience [25 years] representing physicians, physician practices, dentists and related entities and has been involved in jury trials in numerous complex malpractice cases including emergency medicine, orthopedics, oncology, obstetrics, pediatrics, internal medicine, family practice, surgery, gynecology, infectious disease, and dentistry cases. His firm also represents physicians and physician groups in matters related to practice management and before the state boards regulating the practices of physicians and dentists. Mr. Lemons is a member of the adjunct faculty at the University of Nevada School of Medicine. Each year he is an invited speaker at several programs for physicians, residents, medical students and physician office staff. In addition, he has served on various court and bar committees and is a member of the State Bars of Nevada and California. David R. Grundy - MemberEmail: drg@lge.net David R. Grundy joined Lemons, Grundy & Eisenberg in 1981. He was born in Reno, Nevada in 1949 and attended local schools before receiving his bachelors degree from the University of Nevada in 1971. After serving in the United States Navy (Reserve), including two years in the South China Sea, he attended law school at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and received his Juris Doctor degree in 1977. He was admitted to the Nevada bar the same year, and the California bar in 1978 (currently inactive in California). Mr. Grundy was admitted to the bar of the Supreme Court of the United States in 1984, and numerous other federal courts in the west. Mr. Grundy practices primarily in the areas of professional liability and other complex litigation matters and in the representation of businesses in commercial matters. He has served on the Board of Directors of The Sands Regent, a publicly traded company and currently chairs the Board of Directors of the ALPS Corporation, a company which provides professional liability insurance and other services to lawyers and bar associations throughout the country. Mr. Grundy has since 1997 served as a member of the Nevada Judicial Selection Commission which selects candidates for judicial office in Nevada for appointment by the Governor. As a result of that experience, he was nominated by then Chief Justice Miriam Shearing to serve as an editorial advisor for the Handbook for Judicial Nominating Commissioners (2nd Ed., American Judicature Society, 2004). Mr. Grundy is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has served as member and past president of the Bruce R. Thompson Chapter, American Inns of Court, was a founding member and served as president of the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern Nevada and served on the Board of Directors of the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California in the mid nineties. Mr. Grundy also lectures and teaches lawyers and other professionals regarding professional liability, insurance, ethics and trial practices. He has been a contributing author for the Nevada Civil Practice Manual (LexisNexis, Fifth Edition, 2007). Mr. Grundy has also served on the Civil Justice Reform Act Advisory Committee for the Federal District Court for Nevada (1995-97). Robert L. Eisenberg - MemberEmail: rle@lge.net Robert Eisenberg received his bachelor’s degree from California State Polytechnic University in 1973, and his J.D. degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1976 (magna cum laude). He was admitted to the California Bar in 1976 and the Nevada Bar in 1980. He was a civil trial attorney in San Diego from 1976 until 1979, when he moved to Nevada. From 1979 through 1984, he worked on the Central Legal Staff of the Nevada Supreme Court. During most of that time he was the Supervising Staff Attorney. He joined the firm of Lemons, Grundy & Eisenberg in 1985. Since joining the firm, Mr. Eisenberg has practiced in the fields of civil trial litigation and civil appeals. He had numerous jury trials and bench trials over the years, while also developing his appellate practice. His law practice is now devoted entirely to civil appeals. Mr. Eisenberg is a member of numerous professional organizations. He has served as President of the Reno chapter of the American Inns of Court; President of the Northern Nevada Association of Defense Counsel; member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California and Nevada; Chairman of the Nevada Continuing Legal Education Committee; lawyer representative for Nevada federal courts; and member of the Board of Directors of the ABA Committee of Appellate Staff Attorneys (and National Education Chairman). He has served on numerous professional committees, including the Nevada Appellate Advocacy Handbook Committee, the Civil Practice Handbook Committee, the Nevada Supreme Court Bench-Bar Committee, and various study committees established by the Nevada Supreme Court. He has served as a Settlement Judge in the Nevada Supreme Court’s mandatory settlement program since 1997. He frequently lectures and teaches in the areas of civil trial litigation and appeals. He has also coached the Reno High School mock trial team since 1999 (with three state championships). Christian L. Moore - MemberEmail: clm@lge.net Christian L. Moore joined Lemons, Grundy & Eisenberg in 1989. He was born in Munich, West Germany, August 18, 1964 and attended schools in Germany and the United States before receiving his bachelor’s degree in political science and speech communication from the University of Nevada in 1986. While at the University of Nevada, Mr. Moore received the Outstanding Male Senior Award for the graduating class of 1986. He attended law school at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and received his Juris Doctor degree in 1989. While at McGeorge School of Law, Mr. Moore was a member of the Moot Court Competition Team, Trial Advocacy Team, and a McGeorge National Moot Court “Final Four” Top Oralist. Upon graduating from law school, Mr. Moore was admitted the same year to the Nevada bar, and the California bar in 1990 (currently inactive in California). He has also been admitted to the bar of several Federal Courts on the west coast. Mr. Moore has been a member of several professional organizations, including the American Inns of Court; Nevada Association of Defense Council; Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California; Defense Research Institute; and American Bar Association. Mr. Moore has been active with the Nevada State Bar as a charter member of the Nevada State Bar’s first technology group; Charter member of Construction Litigation Section; and Northern Nevada Disciplinary Committee Screening Panel member and occasional panel chairman. Mr. Moore seeks to be active in his community, and is a trained Boy Scout leader who has completed the Wood badge training course for the Boy Scouts of America, Nevada Area Council. Mr. Moore also occasionally lectures and teaches lawyers and other professionals regarding topics such as insurance law, construction defect law, and ethics. Alice Campos Mercado - MemberEmail: acm@lge.net Alice Campos Mercado joined Lemons, Grundy & Eisenberg in 1993, following a one-year judicial clerkship at the Nevada Supreme Court with Justice Thomas L. Steffen (retired) in 1992-93. Ms. Mercado is a native of San Fernando, California. She earned an Associate of Arts Degree (Cum Laude) from Los Angeles Mission College in 1979, and attended California State University, Northridge and the University of Nevada, Reno. Ms. Mercado attended law school at Southwestern University School of Law, earning her Juris Doctor degree (Magna Cum Laude) in 1992. She was admitted to the California and Nevada State Bars in 1992, and is currently actively practicing in both states. Ms. Mercado was admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the United States District Court for the District of Nevada in 1993, and was admitted to the United States District Court for the Central District of California in 2008. Ms. Mercado practices civil defense litigation primarily in the areas of employment law, civil rights, medical malpractice and appeals, in both federal and state courts. In addition to the State Bars of California and Nevada, Ms. Mercado is a member of the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, the Washoe County Bar Association, the Northern Nevada Women Lawyers Association, the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California and Nevada and the Defense Research Institute. She is also a member and past president of the Association of Defense Counsel of Nevada and a Barrister in the Bruce R. Thompson Chapter of the American Inns of Court. Ms. Mercado currently serves on the Board of Directors of Nevada Legal Services and on the Second Judicial District Court Bench/Bar Committee on electronic filing and civil rules and procedure. She previously served on the Civil Rules Subcommittee of the Standing Committee on the Local Rules of Practice for the United States District Court for the District of Nevada (2004-05). Ms. Mercado co-authored “Changes in the Nevada Rules of Appellate Procedure” published in the Nevada Law Review in the Spring of 1998. She has also presented lectures for the Nevada State Bar Association in Motion Practice Before the Supreme Court and for the National Business Institute in Brief Writing and Motion Practice. Tiffinay B. Pagni - MemberEmail: tbp@lge.net A member in the firm, Tiffinay Barker Pagni was born in Reno, Nevada in 1972. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature in 1994. Thereafter, she attended McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento where she served as a founding member of the McGeorge ADR Forum and earned her Juris Doctorate degree. Tiffinay was admitted to the Nevada State Bar in 1997. That same year, she was admitted to practice before the United States District Court, District of Nevada. After completing a federal clerkship with Magistrate Judge Robert A. McQuaid, Tiffinay also became licensed to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Tiffinay’s practice focuses primarily on civil litigation and insurance defense. She also does a fair amount of appellate work and estate planning. Tiffinay has served and continues to serve as outside counsel to several local businesses and casinos. She has tried multiple jury trials in Washoe County and has argued twice before the Nevada Supreme Court. In addition to the practice of law, Tiffinay is involved in various legal, community and State organizations. She is a member of the State Bar of Nevada, the Washoe and American Bar Associations, Northern Nevada Women Lawyer’s Association, Associations of Defense Counsel for Nevada and Northern California and the Nevada Trial Lawyer’s Association. Over the past several years, Tiffinay has been involved in PackPAWS, an organization that promotes and encourages the participation of women in sports at the University of Nevada, Reno, serving on the Executive Board, the Advisory Board and also as Gender Equity Chair. Most recently, Tiffinay was appointed to the State’s National and Community Service Commission. She also enjoys volunteering in youth recreational soccer and softball leagues in which her two young children participate. Tiffinay is a fourth generation Nevadan. Douglas R. Brown - MemberEmail: drb@lge.net Doug Brown was born in Junction City, Kansas on January 28, 1971. He graduated from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. After graduating form the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, Doug attended McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific, where he obtained his law degree in 2001. He was subsequently admitted to the Nevada State Bar in 2001. Prior to joining Lemons Grundy & Eisenberg, Doug served as a legal extern to the Honorable Howard D. McKibben in 1998. He also worked as a law clerk for the to the Honorable William A. Maddox of the First Judicial District Court of the State of Nevada from 2001-2002. Doug is a member of various professional organizations including the Washoe County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, Association of Defense Counsel of Nevada and the American Inns of Court, Bruce R. Thompson Chapter. Doug served in the United States Marine Corps from 1989 -1993. At Lemons, Grundy & Eisenberg Doug practices primarily in Insurance defense and commercial and business law. Joy R. Graber - MemberEmail: jrg@lge.net Joy Graber was born in Carson City, Nevada. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a Bachelor of Science in Finance in 1998. Thereafter she attended Thomas Jefferson School of Law and earned her Juris Doctorate degree, graduating cum laude in 2002. While at Thomas Jefferson, she received six Witkin Awards in appellate legal writing, civil motion practice, criminal procedure, gender, sexuality and the law, U.C.C. and wills. Joy is licensed to practice law in Nevada and California and is a member of various organizations, including bar associations, Northern Nevada Womens Lawyers Association, and Association of Defense Counsel of Nevada and Northern California. She enjoys volunteering her time for various community efforts and sitting on a regional non-profit board of directors. At Lemons, Grundy & Eisenberg, Joy practices in the areas of civil litigation and insurance defense. Todd Alexander - Associate Todd was born in Petaluma, California on October 31, 1975, and was raised in Sparks, Nevada. He served in the United States Navy from 1995 – 1999, after which he attended the University of Nevada. In 2004, Todd graduated from the University of Nevada with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. Todd then attended the University of Oregon School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctorate degree in 2007. Prior to joining Lemons, Grundy & Eisenberg, Todd served as a legal extern to the Honorable Robert A. McQuaid in 2005. He then served as a summer law clerk for Lemons, Grundy & Eisenberg in 2006. After graduating from law school, Todd served as a law clerk for the Honorable Steven P. Elliott in the Second Judicial District Court for the State of Nevada.
